Tips for catching Trophy Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass

Again and again over the years I have listened to many anglers and clients express their frustration trying to catch smallmouth bass. Most anglers do not know that these fish have their own behaviors that they are of largemouth bass. The main differences between a smallmouth and largemouth bass are as follows:

If you fish for smallmouth here in the Northeast, especially in the SusquehannaRiver in Maryland, you will notice that stick smallmouth not find that to cover. This is even more apparent in some of our slack water reservoirs. Smallmouth relate much more to a sudden or rapid depth change made, as they conceal. When we fish for largemouth, we have all learned to fish brushpiles and thick weedbeds, but rather small mouth bass on a ledge that drops quickly from about six to twelve feet to get caught.

When fishing in the reservoirsConowingo, or in the rivers like the Susquehanna, trapped small mouths sometimes flat, but they are rarely more than 10-20 yards from deep water. The Rapala DT Series was in good smallmouth in these areas.

Wherever we go we see the majority of bass anglers to the coastline, and because it can work for largemouth bass most of the time if you are after the big smallmouth bass, turn around and instead of throwing on the open water hit the shore .

Unlike largemouth, smallmouth often grouped according to size. I found that if we caught smaller fish, caught in the eleven to fourteen inch range, we rarely a major in the same area. On the other hand, if we scored a smallmouth that were about four or five pounds, many times there were some that size and even larger swimming right along with them. Big largemouth bass are loners, found in the rule, to the best piece of structure, while larger smallmouth is often the schooltogether.

There are several things that tell you that smallmouth bass are much better suited for strong current than largemouth. Firstly, its pointed nose and the sharp angle of the fins are indicators that they are more suitable in the current. They often get behind a rock or stump and rush to feed. Largemouth can adapt somewhat to current, but much more at home in slack water.

Locating and then catching big smallmouth is a real challenge. That is why it is so much fun.I hope that by reading some of these methods you have a better understanding of where these trophy fish go and what they seek, and of course this will hopefully you get the fish of his life gained. Remember, early and late in the year, and brave the elements that these priority areas with the baits we described, and remember, above all, look for a totally different fish! "They're not Large Mouths!"

There are thousands of small ponds, lakes and rivers that keep"Huge Bass" from Maine to Florida. In the last 10 years of record keeping, among more than 600 bass caught and released 5 to 10 pounds of small bodies of water on the east coast and one over 10 pounds of Delaware, here are the tactics I've found that a single trophy to produce each year.

) Even in small bodies of water (less than 1000 hectares, it is only a small part of the water that will hold the largest bass. Find The main features are the areas in whichmore than two or three different types of vegetation come together in the same area. Well not all of these areas will hold big fish. The largest fish in the lake is always in the best coverage and locations. This is where the various grasses combine in the vicinity of a stream channel on or near the beds and flats, in addition to covering the deep water.

In general, this low access to water and other cover is included that is not visible without the use and understanding of good electronics, and a goodUnderstanding of what you observe. Sometimes the functions are on the bottom will be difficult, but the "hot spot" of the area. Small wells, with stones or rocks along the drop-off, if they have a current break is most attractive locations for "Trophy Bass". If there is no real cover, like rocks or trees, sometimes alone, the proper depth coverage of the incident light and can provide good results.

In small waters, as in Delaware and Maryland, are the Bass --usually in or near the same locations throughout the year. This does not guarantee a trophy by any means. It is rare to catch the biggest fish in the lake with conventional means. Many big bass five to eight pounds are caught on artificial as spinnerbaits, jigs, frogs and swimbaits Buzzbaits every year, but in general, are the true trophies, and over 9 pounds, caught in the special techniques and live bait. Recently, several large bass have been big hits, "Saltwater"Rat-L-Traps in the 3 / 4 ounces and up to size in various colors, busy working with a fast, pumping action of the rod, and with swimbait tactics of the West Coast anglers.

The Sebil Magic Swimmer "and the 4" Tru-Tungsten swimbait really produced some big bass in the Northeast. I have never believed that this bait would work here until I met Bill Seimantel in the Big Bass World Championship at Table Rock Lake in Missouri in 1999, and he convinced me to try it here in the Northeast.Since that time, all kind swimbaits have produced many trophy class fish.

When fishing for true "Trophy Bass", to the best bait is the most important forage in the waters where you fish. This should be researched in advance contact with the fish and game department of the state that you plan to fish in, and against the control with local businesses. You also need to know what is legal in each state you are fishing is prohibited.

Most lakes, ponds and rivers in the Delaware andMaryland area, have golden shiners in them, and they really the big bass. If these are not available, extra-large wild shiners, the second best choice. If you insist on only artificial, then a huge frog, great Buzzbaits, a 12 "worm, a 3 / 4 to 1 1 / 2 ounce Rat-L-Trap or a" Castaic "," Sebil "or" Matt Lures "Swim Bait are the best choice.

You need at least two or three dozen shiners every time you go, and they must be controlled at a temperature, chemically treatedEnsure bait holder system, they are alive. This is very important. When using Live millroach or shiners on a deep structure, as I do through the back door hook, and drifts through the lips. At work cattails, reeds and heavy pads, I hook them through the tail and let them swim in the direction of the heavy cover where the bass are. Use 3 / 0 to 5 / 0 sharp, Daiichi-or X-Point hook. I like to use the balloons instead of robbers, they work best if you blow them to the size of asmall orange. You can jump on a leash, and you can use separate shoot, if you prefer.

The best equipment is a heavy action, 7-7 1 / 2 feet, E-glass or S-glass rod, of high quality, such as G. Loomis or St. Croix. Recently, many manufacturers are making rod rods of composite and graphite materials, which are lighter, stronger, and the same characteristics of the older E-and S-glass rods. G. Loomis makes a good, and Kistler. I always use lines of at least seventeen poundsto test and most of the time, twenty to thirty pound monofilament. Meant, in some deep water, or serious cases, I use forty to fifty pound test Stren Super Braid or Power Pro series.

I suggest a good Baitcast rod, but a spinning rod in heavy action will work. The roles should be a strong metal-roll, with at least 3 ball bearings, gears and strong brass or, better, in a 5:1:1 or 5:3:1 ratio, or similar area. It is best for all around performance and speed on these largerFish. Knots are very important. The best use is the Palomar knot, it has 100% knot strength. They should also learn a different specialty knots for braid and other great lines too.

The best time is when you can. If you have only a few days, and have the choice of the Solunar Tables should weather conditions and barometer, are all considered. They play an important role in fish activity. In the very early spring, anglers who are willing to brave the elements is the catchbiggest bass. These fish can imagine strike earlier in the year than most people.

There are some very small waters for Trophy Bass at Rhode Iceland, Vermont, Minnesota, Florida, and of course, California, Arizona and Texas. However, in the northeast, you can not go wrong with your time in Delaware on Noxontown Lake in Middletown, Lums Pond in Bear, Killens in Dover, and Milton Diamond. The Susquehanna River Liberty Reservoir and the Potomac River in Maryland also hold greatMay catch fish, where you both largemouth and smallmouth .. These waters are fished with the techniques described in this article, you produce the "Trophy of a Lifetime".

The first operations of espionage Jeb Stuart is located in Washington was led by Captain Thomas N. Conrad, chaplain of the 3rd Virginia Cavalry. He spent most of the civil war lurking in a secret rebel hideout on the Potomac and creeps in Washington, where the air was clean, it was surprising how much time. He was often arrested, but just as often turned loose by Southern sympathizers in the Northern System. He was aMaster of disguise and the Surge seldom recognized that the same man she was previously stolen.

The Van Ness Mansion

Originally used Conrad Van Ness mansion of General John Peter Van Ness in the early 1800s, when his secret headquarters in Washington. It was only a few blocks from the White House, it has been isolated by extensive grounds, and it was certainly the sympathetic hands. It has an excellent base of operations. But when Colonel Sharp took over the secretService from the Pinkertons and stopped the play, therefore, rely on the gravity, Conrad was found out and had all his lists to use to narrowly escaped. If he now in jail, the severity was descended from these activities, he wanted to stay there until the end of the war, when he was not shot or hanged. Nevertheless, Conrad began to go into and out of Washington until early 1864, at which time the situation Lafayette C. Baker of the Federal Republic of espionage had him on the trail and itsCase. Conrad knew that he was too low, or caught. Conrad then he built a small hut he called "Eagle's Nest" on a high rock on the Maryland side of the Potomac River near a place known as the Hole Boyd. He laid mines in the creeks and inlets that provide access to access to his hideaway. His whereabouts was to know Baker, sent a gunboat to Boyd's hole to put Conrad out of business. The gun boat was sunk by a mine, as well as several others who tried the same thing.

ASudden change of plans

Conrad was considering moving to another if it is word that Lilly Parran had a delivery, Lee had to leave immediately. Conrad rendezvous with Lilly, and took the shipment, which was a large package of about thirty-five pounds. The weight was no problem, but the bulkiness of the package was. He made his way to the Potomac, not take the time to go to Harrisburg cross, because she was too far out of the way on a trip to Richmond. While trying to cross, he was taken prisoner by the guards, and after an interrogation hut. She did not recognize him because he is in one of his famous disguises. He knew that he would be discovered when they looked into the package if he is not gone. He was smallpox, which had received it from scratch before, and was taken out back and put himself alone with his package. He talked about his infection to the guards nervous, which is what happened, and they went to make the building wherethey could not hear him. Conrad managed to slip into the river and headed back. He would, however, swam Lilly had implored him not to have the package to get wet, so he ordered an unguarded boat and moved to the other shore. When about halfway through, he was discovered and a boat to chase him. Conrad escaped and hid in places very familiar to him from his years of operation.

A near-fatal encounter with Robert E. Lee

In less than a week he had hisWay to Richmond. He was instructed by Lilly, the package in one, but Lee and Conrad straight give up his headquarters. It was not too late, but it was after dark and the General was not in his office. Conrad went to the side and knocked on his window. The General let him in. When he finally saw Conrad, Lee berated him for his slovenly dress, his lack of respect for the military and the very dangerous practice, knock on the window of a general, in these times. Lee saidConrad, that he had come to shoot an inch of it. Like most Southerners, Lee Conrad regarded with awe and were punished by Lee rather than supplemented by all the others.

The Precious Cargo

As Conrad had read was Lee, who already lying down, went out and opened the package. In it he found the magnificent Confederate uniform he had ever seen. It was the finest cloth that money could buy and had to be adjusted carefully and beautifully. Leeput it on and it fit perfectly. He had realized that it was tailored for him by someone who knew his stride length, but who? The day has only said: "From a lady in Baltimore, and Lee did not know any ladies in Baltimore in particular.

In the package, Lee also found something even more impressive. Carefully put a beautiful velvet box was a pair of solid gold spurs. The box was marked "For Jeb Stuart from a lady in Baltimore." Was it the same lady? Lee knew that Stuart and his wife Flowere over the hills and Stuart left the next morning for a long reconnaissance mission. He spoke for an ordered and sent him to get into Stuart.

Stuart is disappointing evening

When she went to Lee's district, joked Flo, Stuart, as she usually did. "So this is how you spend your evenings, making small talk with General Hill and one eye on his beautiful wife."
"Why is Flo, honey, what on earth you're Talkin 'About?" Stuart protested, trying his bestViolate tone.
"I suppose you'll say you do not think she's pretty," Flo replied.
Jeb knew his wife too well to play the game of denial about. "Like everyone else, I think they prettier'n pink lilacs in my ear a blue cow, but she Is not Nothin 'goin' on between us."
Flo laughed. "So I have taken note of," she said cheerfully. "They do not seem in line with his foot in the stirrup you like most have caught your 'contacts'."
It irritates Stuart that she had said that, although itcorrect and he should not be indifferent.

The tension rises

When they came into the house of Lee, Lee made too much of the fact that Flo was with him, apparently trying to disarm, to which the idea of a tense situation. Then he pushed the velvet box across the table to Jeb.
"A bad time, I think Jeb to transfer gifts from admirers. But I know you are going in the morning and I thought maybe there was a message in this. We need all the intelligence we can get onlynow. "
Flo took the Spurs out of their case and whistling through his teeth. "Wow, are these really gold?"
Stuart weighed them. "Shore's pleasure."
Flo sat on a chair and sat her on her boots. She dressed like she was always willing to go with her husband when she came to see him, and would have if he let them. "What is the message, Jeb?" She asked.
"There is no message, Sweetie. The General just said that maybe ..."
"Hm," said Flo slyly. "And who is this'Lady Baltimore'? "
"It is a contact in the network, an older woman of means."
Flo laughed with good-natured question. "An older woman, how old?"
"Uh ... forty, maybe forty-five."
Flo laughed again and said with amusement, "Shame on you, Jeb Stuart." Lee gave him that you never know what I'm thinking to search.
Jeb was uncomfortable and I thought he must say something, but what? "Well, Flo, without women like these, we would never ..."

Flo Lee laughed and laughed, andJeb Stuart never taken the trouble to finish the sentence. They went to her house with Flo is still the Spurs. "Well, if you see her say again, Darlin 'man, she said I am very grateful to her for the spores. I never had a gift like before." Then she laughed again, and so has Jeb, but there was an emptiness about it, not like the melodious ringing laugh that you hear in the rule got him. Lee went into the deadly-yet witnessed in the night they go out of his eyes, wonderingabout the woman from Baltimore, and what the rest of the evening for General Stuart instead. Then he turned his thoughts back to Conrad. "What a war depends on how the swamp creatures for the win," he said aloud to himself.

One Man's Spy is Another Man's ...

Conrad, who is still discovering hidden in the bushes hoping to hear what in his package of high priority, clearly Lee's words. He crept silently, wondering whether to infringe or be proud, because theLee, what had been said.

Some people think that Bald Eagles would be on the list of endangered species, but if you ever boat along the Potomac, there are hundreds of them and they seem to enjoy there and also live near the capital of the nation. Maybe it's because The Bald Eagle has made our national bird, because our founding fathers saw tons of them in this area. In fact, they have probably lived longer than in our country has been existence.

There are many state parks and areas aroundWashington, DC, the land and animals in these areas, there are all kinds of birds and species that are very often that you do not see everywhere. The wildlife along the Potomac River is spectacular and the Bald Eagles are great and you can only see their raw power when they fly. It seems that not the American bald eagle symbolizes strength in the bird world, as adjusted is a highly advanced type for their environment.

Perhaps you know that Benjamin Franklin, the desiredNational Bird to Turkey and although this is rather funny in hindsight, it is very interesting that we call the majority of politicians, turkeys. Of course, the politicians are known to be making turkey, but this is rather petty and should take no criticism of the Wild Turkey. So, no offense to Turkey. Please bear all this in 2006.
