This project has been generally good and the renewal of a very modest house in the middle of the century 3300sf on the hill near the Potomac River. A story on the front, two stories in the back, a house that does not work well or even recognize the river view. The top floor was full, a series of small pieces together - three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a dining room and living room, even the bedroom and kitchen / dining room overlooking the river was not. The scale was not used - was alarge utility room with a "wine cellar" feel, but with incredible views of the river and a small bedroom and bathroom. Open the stairs as possible, a large living / dining / entertainment area built on the left side and the extension to open the terrace for a series of French doors, which combines all three into a master bedroom comfortably sized bathroom on the right side with a relaxation area, lounge, dressing room and master bathroom, which was all overlooking the river, anddivides the storage area in a room lower level and a study room / guests, while the expansion of the bathroom. Functionally, the renovation of the house opened, and highlighted the views of all parties in color (not white, she said ...) and now carries a view of the river, which forms an integral part of the experience to be there, it has become. This project was in March 2008 at DC Modern Luxury Magazine and a cover story in the House of...

This project was a total gut and renovation of a very modest 3300sf mid-century tract house on a slope by the Potomac river. One story in the front, 2 stories in the back; a house that didn't really function well or even acknowledge the views to the river. The upstairs was a series of small rooms jam-packed together - 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a kitchen and dining room and living room, yet the master bedroom and the kitchen/dining area had no views to the river. The downstairs was not used - was one large storage room with a "basement" feel, yet with incredible views of the river, and a small guestroom and bath. We opened the upstairs up as much as possible, creating one large living/dining/entertainment area on the left, and widening the opening to the balcony by inserting a series of french doors; combined all 3 bedrooms into one comfortable sized master bedroom suite, on the right, with a sleeping area, lounge area, dressing area and master bathroom that all had views to the river; and subdivided the lower level storage area into a family room and a study/guest bedroom, while enlarging the guest bathroom. Functionally the renovation opened the house to light and views from all sides, introduced color throughout (anything but beige, they said...) and now brings in the river views that become an integral part of the experience of being there. This project was featured in the March 2008 issue of DC Modern Luxury magazine and was a cover story in the HOME section of The ...
